Time: 8 - 11 AM
Type: Lectures
Dentist Fee: $105.00  Other Fee: $75.00

Temporomandibular disorders (TMDs) affect about 10% of the population and can be challenging to diagnose and manage. This course reviews major TMD types, including arthrogenous, myogenous, internal derangements and other less common joint conditions. Participants will explore etiology, pain mechanisms, diagnostic methods and treatment strategies. Through clinical case studies, dentists will learn to differentiate muscle versus joint conditions and apply medical, dental, pharmacologic and behavioral therapies to effectively manage a range of TMD presentations.

Th6043 - Oral Mucosal Lesions: A Step-By-Step Guide to Courses Diagnosis and Management
Time: 12 - 3 PM
Type: Lectures
Dentist Fee: $105.00  Other Fee: $75.00

Dentists are often the primary care providers who patients consult to evaluate oral lesions. Appropriately diagnosing and managing oral mucosal diseases can be challenging. A sound understanding of oral mucosal diseases and employing a systematic approach for examination and assessment will allow for an efficient, accurate diagnosis. This presentation will outline conditions affecting the oral soft tissues and how to manage them while aiding clinicians in forming differential diagnoses, understanding how to order appropriate diagnostic tests and the appropriate management of oral mucosal lesions.

Friday Courses
Fr6070 - Non-Odontogenic Sources of Tooth Pain: Demystifying the Mystery of “Phantom Tooth Pain”
Time: 9 AM - 12 PM
Type: Lectures
Dentist Fee: $105.00  Other Fee: $75.00

One in six dental patients experience orofacial pain, often presenting as a toothache, though not all are caused by an odontogenic source. These non-odontogenic pains can be difficult to diagnose, leading to unnecessary treatments and referrals. This course reviews non-odontogenic sources of tooth pain, teaching clinicians how to differentiate odontogenic from non-odontogenic cases. Participants will learn proper exam methods, diagnostic testing and evidence-based management strategies to improve diagnostic accuracy and patient outcomes in complex pain presentations.

Fr7017 - Cancer and Oral Health: Oral Complications and Dental Management
Time: 1:30 - 4:30 PM
Type: Lectures
Dentist Fee: $0.00  Other Fee: $0.00

Cancer accounts for nearly a quarter of deaths in the U.S., with head and neck cancers affecting about 3% of the population. These cancers often cause severe oral complications, even with treatment. Despite advances in imaging, surgery, radiation and systemic therapy, survival rates have only improved modestly. This course reviews the epidemiology, prevention and treatment of head and neck cancers, emphasizing the vital role dental professionals play.
