Friday Courses
Fr7020 - From Caries to Composite: A Research-Driven Approach to Posterior Restorations
Time: 2 - 5 PM
Type: Lectures
Dentist Fee: $0.00  Other Fee: $0.00

Posterior composite restorations are a bread-and-butter procedure in general dentistry, yet long-term success relies on many clinical factors. This course reviews evidence-based techniques for diagnosis, isolation, caries removal, cavity preparation, liner use, matrix and wedge placement, bonding, composite placement, and finishing and polishing. Participants will examine treatment guidelines for interproximal caries and removal endpoints, explore materials and methods to strengthen adhesive bonds and achieve well-adapted restorations, and analyze matrix use and contouring instruments to ensure tight, well-contoured contacts.

Saturday Courses
Sa6120 - Mastering Modern Ceramics: Simplifying Selection, Handling & Bonding
Time: 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Type: Lectures
Dentist Fee: $105.00  Other Fee: $75.00

Learn how to select, handle and bond today’s most common dental ceramics with evidence-based guidance from UAB research. This course simplifies protocols for zirconia, lithium disilicate, porcelain and more, cutting through marketing noise with practical, proven strategies. Gain tips for long-lasting restorations and conservative tooth preparations. Objectives include reviewing ceramic types, choosing materials for anterior cases, designing posterior restorations, adjusting and polishing crowns, preparing surfaces, understanding cements and applying reliable bonding protocols.

Sa6128 - Treatment of Anterior Discolorations
Time: 1:30 - 3:30 PM
Type: Lectures
Dentist Fee: $105.00  Other Fee: $75.00

Discoloration of anterior teeth may result from disrupted mineralization during tooth formation or from caries on the formed tooth. Both dysmineralization and white spot lesions can present esthetic concerns for patients. Resin infiltration and microabrasion are two conservative treatment options for these conditions. Course objectives include reviewing clinical tips for case selection, outlining the steps involved in performing both techniques, and presenting clinical cases to illustrate successful outcomes with resin infiltration and microabrasion.
