Implants have proven to be a viable option for replacement of missing teeth and for retention of both fixed and removable prosthetics. However, implants present their own set of challenges. This presentation will address both surgical and prosthetic failures, both in the early and late phase of treatment. We will review pre-operative planning to minimize failure and discuss how to diagnose and manage complications during surgery and postoperatively as well as manage failing implants and implant prostheses.

This course offers a practical approach to managing common medical emergencies in the dental office. Participants will learn how to properly equip and prepare their practice with essential emergency drugs and supplies. A hands-on component provides the opportunity to handle equipment and apply learned skills in simulated scenarios. This session is designed for the entire dental team.

Fr5026 - Introduction to Implant Dentistry: Hands-On Placement with Models

Learn how to diagnose and create a treatment plan for predictable implant restorations. We will review related head and neck anatomy and discuss the use of traditional radiology and CBCT for predictable results. Clinical pharmacology for effective management of the perioperative and postoperative implant patient will be discussed. Emphasis will be on single tooth application with a step-by- step approach as well as a hands-on suturing lab. Participants will place implants on models to understand the protocol for implant placement and restoration.

 

There will be a one-hour lunch break from 11:30 am - 12:30 pm.

Sa6106 - Conscious Sedation Permit Update

This course is a review of the conscious sedation techniques covering the necessary continuing education requirements for those performing conscious sedation in the office. The participant will learn about the current pharmacology update associated with conscious sedation and review potential emergencies associated with sedation in the dental office. The following states will require conscious sedation permit updates for licensure: Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina and Virginia. Check with your state board if your state is not listed.
