Currently 1 in 13 people in the US are taking incretin-mimetic weight loss medications like Ozempic and Mounjaro. As practitioners, how much do we know about their impacts on our patients' oral health? Participants in this course will review the mechanisms of action and rationale for use of GLP-1-RA and GIPR medications. Attendees will also review the clinical implications for patients seeking dental care who are taking GLP-1-RA and GIPR medications.

This course explores the science and clinical application of Leukocyte-Platelet Rich Fibrin (L-PRF) in oral surgery. Participants will review the biological mechanisms behind L-PRF, its role in enhancing healing, and its effectiveness in improving graft material handling. Step-by-step protocols—from venipuncture to placement—will be covered, along with hands-on training simulations and L-PRF membrane manipulation aimed at gaining practical skills and insight into one of the most promising tools for optimizing soft and hard tissue healing.

 

Note: To perform venipuncture procedures, additional specific training is required in the state of Georgia for dental assistants and hygienists (GA. Code 43-11-23). Attendees from other states should consult your state's requirements.

Fr6095 - Don’t Get Screwed by Implant Complications: Diagnosis, Treatment, and Prevention of Periimplantitis and Peri-implant Mucositis

Implant-related complications are common and challenging to manage. This course teaches how to assess patient, site, and fixture risk factors for peri-implant diseases before implant placement. This course will arm the dental healthcare professional with information about the impacts of nicotine, vaping products, and cannabis use on oral health and provide practical solutions when treating patients who report smoking, vaping, and/or cannabis use. The dental team can be an integral part of nicotine and cannabis cessation and help patients prevent their oral health from going up in smoke!
