The rescue and retreatment of previously problematic implant cases in the aesthetic zone creates significant challenges, risks and limitations. This lecture will be a case series of aesthetic zone implant patients with various problems, such as: gingival recession, failed grafts, extensive bone loss, failing implants and more. Various protocols and techniques for complicated case management will be detailed. Attendees will learn about implant complication management and expectations from the restorative perspective.

This lecture will provide the practitioner with an understanding of the technique of immediate implant placement and immediate provisionalization along with the long-term benefits to esthetics.  Successful outcomes for implants in the aesthetic zone require not just osseointegration of the implant fixture itself, but also creation of appropriate gingival architecture and selection and fabrication of an abutment / crown system that balances aesthetic and functional demands. Temporary techniques, cementation protocols, abutment / crown selection, impression techniques, emergence profiles, and gingival shaping will be discussed.
