Temporomandibular disorders (TMDs) affect about 10% of the population and can be challenging to diagnose and manage. This course reviews major TMD types, including arthrogenous, myogenous, internal derangements and other less common joint conditions. Participants will explore etiology, pain mechanisms, diagnostic methods and treatment strategies. Through clinical case studies, dentists will learn to differentiate muscle versus joint conditions and apply medical, dental, pharmacologic and behavioral therapies to effectively manage a range of TMD presentations.
