Dental professionals are uniquely positioned to identify, counsel, and refer at-risk patients through chairside intervention. This course explores dentistry’s role in early diabetes detection with hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) testing. Objectives include understanding the scientific links between diabetes and oral disease, recognizing signs of uncontrolled diabetes, reviewing systemic and oral effects and shared risk factors, applying co-therapeutic management and counseling strategies, and learning the process, indications, and CDT-approved coding for HbA1c testing.
