Cancer accounts for nearly a quarter of deaths in the U.S., with head and neck cancers affecting about 3% of the population. These cancers often cause severe oral complications, even with treatment. Despite advances in imaging, surgery, radiation and systemic therapy, survival rates have only improved modestly. This course reviews the epidemiology, prevention and treatment of head and neck cancers, emphasizing the vital role dental professionals play.
