This course offers an overview of the prevalence of diseases of the periodontium, linking them back to the current implementation strategies dental hygienists have integrated in delivering complex care. Through a review of the historical survey of periodontal diagnostics, the 2017 American Academy of Periodontology Staging and Grading pieces are reviewed concluding with new clinical parameters in identifying various classified diseases within the spectrum of clinical health.
